    Cherrytree Software

Since there is currently no official Evernote Linux version, several programmes are attempting to be Evernote substitutes, with varying degrees of success. Although cherrytree alternative for windows may be run in Wine, it’s a better idea to locate a native note-taking tool for Linux that meets your requirements.

CherryTree software is an alternative worth considering since it allows you to arrange your notes in a wise and logical manner. CherryTree software has so many capabilities that I could write a book on it. Don’t be fooled by its relatively simple interface.

    CherryTree Installation

CherryTree is a Python programme that runs on both Linux and Windows. I’ll focus on the Linux version in this essay because I’m a Linux user. The official website provides Debian and Ubuntu download packages, as well as installers and a portable version for Windows.

Although many other distributions contain cherrytree android in their repositories, they may not have the most recent version. On Linux, CherryTree may be launched as a portable programme by unpacking the source tarball and running it. Your notes are structured hierarchically in CherryTree, which is useful for complicated projects and study aids since it allows you to organise information in a logical way.

In CherryTree, all elements – folders, subfolders, and notes – are referred to as “Nodes,” and they can be Rich Text, Plain Text, or Automatic Syntax Highlighting. For notes containing code, go with the later option. When establishing a “Node,” you may give it tags to make searching simpler. Your notes can be password-protected, and they’ll all be saved in one file in whichever format you like (XML or SQLite).

Adding a new node to the network

“Nodes” can include “Sub-nodes,” making them the Evernote or MyNotex equivalent of “Notebooks.”
You can make “Nodes” read-only, sort them, move them around, expand and collapse them, and bookmark them for easy navigation. Linking “Nodes” to each other is one of the most helpful aspects. With the “Insert Anchor” option, you may transform any selected text into a link, allowing you to establish your own unique information repository.

    Making and Changing Notes

In the main Cherrytree Software window, which has menus, a toolbar, a tree view of all “Nodes” in the current file, and an editing area, you’ll be working with notes. In the “Preferences” dialogue, you may conceal all components except menus and the editing area, and the tree view can be relocated to the right side.

Formatting buttons are located on the toolbar. Change the colour of the text, make it bold, italic, or superscript, put it into a list (including to-do lists with checkboxes), align text, and create subheadings with them.

    In CherryTree, create a table

You may use Cherrytree Software to add many types of material to your notes. You may paste objects from the clipboard, insert, resize, and rotate pictures (PNG, JPG, TIFF…), set the current date and time, create a table of contents, and input ordinary text tables, which can also be imported from CSV files.

Insert a code block into your notes if you wish to include code

Insert a codebox if you wish to add code to your notes; it supports syntax highlighting for over 70 programming and scripting languages. The right-click menu in the editing area and tree view, as well as the “Edit” menu, may be used to insert items.

    CherryTree Customization

The “Preferences” menu also allows you to modify the typefaces and background colours of the main Cherrytree Software window, in addition to the capabilities I’ve already discussed. You may also enable features like as line wrapping, indentation, line numbers, autosave, session restoration, and automatic backups. You may modify the fonts and background colours in the Preferences dialogue.

    Conclusion

CherryTree has a lot more up its sleeve than that. For those who prefer to work without using a mouse, there are several useful keyboard shortcuts. It has a robust “Find & Replace” feature that can search all notes or a specified folder (“Node”) and its subfolders (“Sub-nodes”), with regular expressions and partial matching capabilities.
